SSDPP held its 1st research review meeting

SSDPP held its 1^st research review meeting on 14 October 2011. The two research teams that attended the meeting were the Social Policy research team and Public Health research team.

Prof. Xu Yuebing, on behalf of the Social Policy team, firstly introduced the updates of his social assistance program. He noted that the focus of this program changes as it develops from one phase to the next. Todesign the right service model for the aged group, he believes the program team will carry out interventions on the groups of elderly people and children and that in-depth interviews will be conducted.

Prof. Jin Chenggang, representing the Public Health team, shared his recent work for the evaluation of the reform of the healthcare center of Bao’an Community in Shenzhen. He introduced the program background, its design and the program results. In particular, he shared the techniques applied in analyzing the data for this program.

Prof. Qu Zhiyong also shared his recent research in the meeting. SSDPP Dean Prof. Zhang Xiulan attended the meeting.

SSDPP will hold research review meetings on a regular basis among its faculty members since the fall semester of 2011. It’s expected that through this newly-initiated mechanism, faculty members can share their recent research progresses, get the opinions from fellow faculty members and further improve their research capabilities.
