SSDPP Assistant Prof. Tian Fangmeng participated the project kickoff meeting of “Transnational Migration in Transition”, (or EURA-NET in short), during Feb. 7-8, 2014 at the University of Tampere in Finland.

Participants, coming from different countries across Europe and Asia, discussed upon issues including the project’s progress control, governing structure, theoretical framework, and the first-phase implementation plan. Representing SSDPP, Prof. Tian Fangmeng shared China’s current migration situations and engaged in extensive discussion on related issues with other participants.

EURA-NET is implemented by a multi-country and multi-disciplinary team of researchers under the coordination of the University of Tampere. It aims to carry out theoretical analysis and empirical studies in eleven countries in the Euro-Asian transnational space to gain an understanding of the current characteristics and related policy impacts of temporary transnational migration and mobility. The project is funded by the European Commission’s 7th Framework Programme for the period 2014-2017.

BNU School of Social Development and Public Policy is a member of its research consortium. Prof. Hu Xiaojiang is appointed as the local coordinator, and Prof. Tian Fangmeng is the researcher of the research project.
