Preliminary Success: SSDPP vs School of Philosophy

At 13:30 on November 19, the preliminary competition of the 17th "Golden Sound Cup" graduate debate competition of Beijing Normal University kicked off online. The debate team of SSDPP played against the team of the School of Philosophy.

Focusing on "whether adding or subtracting makes young people happier", the two sides had a heated discussion. The debate team of the School of Philosophy elaborated on the argument of "exploring the depth and height of things through subtraction", while our brilliant view of "adding helps broaden our life possibilities" won the praise of the judge. Our team finally won the competition with a score of 5:4 and was among the top six.

Losing the second round: SSDPP vs Shuhe Team

At 10:00 on November 27, SSDPP team debated against the Shuhe Team in the second round. With the theme of "youth with regrets or without regrets is more worthwhile to experience", the debate competition was in full swing. Shuhe Team believed that striving with a mindset of putting in all effort without leaving any regrets is the true youth we want, while our side argued that regretful youth allows us to cherish and experience the richness of life. In the end, our team lost the debate and was only among the top six.

Looking back on the "Golden Sound Cup" debate, we not only had the joy of winning the preliminary contest, but also regretted for the loss in the second round after going all out. Although our team was only among the top six, we gained friendship, improved debating skills, and achieved certain honors in this process. The event has come to an end, but the debate team of SSDPP is still on its way. We look forward to achieving better results in the coming year!
