I. What are the admission requirements for academic doctoral program of Beijing Normal University?

 

1. Uphold the leadership of the Communist Party of China, willing to serve the construction of socialist modernization, with good moral character, law abiding

 

2. Meet one of the following conditions: Candidates with a master's degree (obtain a master's degree before the first test), or fresh master graduates (obtain the master’s degree or master graduates before the enrollment), or eligible candidates with equivalent education level, or the candidates who have obtained a doctoral degree.

   

Candidates with equivalent education level are required to meet the following conditions: (1) Have obtained a bachelor's degree for at least six years (from the date when the bachelor's degree was obtained to the date of the doctoral enrollment). (2) Have had at least four academic papers on related fields printed in the core journals as the first author; This number can be reduced for those who once independently presided over the provincial or ministerial major research projects, but not less than two. ③ Have successfully completed the master's degree courses and elective courses with satisfactory results.

 

The candidates with only a master's degree certificate but not the MA diploma (such as the candidates with equivalent education level who apply for master program and the professional master with a single certificate) can only apply as candidates with equivalent education level until they obtain a master’s degree before the first test. At the same time, they have to meet the above admission requirements for candidates with equivalent education level.

 

3. Recommend by at least two associate professors (or with equivalent title) in the related fields

 

4. Physical health meets the physical examination standards. Please refer to the "Guidelines on College Entrance Physical Examination" for the physical examination standards.

 

5. Not be older than 45 years of age (born after September 1, 1968).

 

II. How to register?

 

[Note: Candidates should read carefully the application requirements and confirm they are eligible before registration. Review of examination qualification will be conducted in the admission period.]

 

1．Registration time: In about November every year. Visit the Website of the Graduate School of BNU for specific date for registration. Only online registration is accepted. Website: http://graduate.bnu.edu.cn/bsbmindex.htm. Please read relevant notifications of the registration system for specific requirements and procedures. Registration fee of 200 Yuan needs to be paid online.

 

2．Applicants are required to submit the following written materials to the Graduate Studies Office of the relevant colleges and departments before the deadline (see the postmark date) according to the relevant requirements:

 

（1）Registration form (printed by the online registration system, a personal digital photo needs to be uploaded before the form printing and the candidate must sign each page personally to confirm the information);

 

（2）Two letters of recommendation from relevant experts (download a blank table from the online registration system and ask the expert to fill it in);

 

（3）Personal statement (download a blank table from the online registration system and fill it in; submit the e-version to the online registration system);

 

（4）Candidates' published academic papers, patents and other research results (original or copy); Candidates' representative published papers need to be submitted to the online registration system, at most three);

 

（5）Candidates with a master's degree are required to submit a copy of the master's degree certificate (certification from the Overseas Study Service Center of Ministry of Education is required for the master's degree obtained abroad), a copy of the diploma (not for postgraduates with a single professional degree or with equivalent education level), master degree thesis and the original master's program transcript (provided with an official seal by the graduate training department of the college or university where the candidates studied for a master's degree, or a copy of the original from the personal file management department.        Fresh graduates are only required to submit the original master transcripts. After being admitted, if the student cannot present a master's degree certificate and diploma, the admission offer will become null and void.

 

       Students with equivalent education level are required to submit the bachelor’s degree certificate, a copy of the undergraduate diploma and the original master transcripts.

The admission card for entrance examination will no longer be sent and candidates have to download the card from the website of BNU’s Graduate School one week before the examination.

 

III. Will SSDPP accept on-job doctorates?

 

Yes. In 2012, however, the Ministry of Education reduced the indicators for on-job doctorates and the proportion of on-job doctorates of the total enrolled students of each college is required to be no more than 5%.

 

IV. When is the re-examination held usually?

 

It depends on the annual registration situation. Usually, the re-examination is held after the written test on that very day or after the announcements of first test results. Please pay close attention to the website of the Graduate School of Beijing Normal University for the re-examination flow and schedule.

 

V. Is online registration necessary for the application? Is the on-site confirmation necessary?

 

The on-job applicants must first register themselves online and then confirm the information on site. Very few candidates who miss the online registration for special reasons may register and confirm relevant information in a designated place. The candidates have to confirm their information on site, otherwise the registration is invalid.

 

VI. Can the on-job graduate students who have obtained a master’s degree apply for PhD?

 

      Usually, whoever with a master's degree may apply for PhD. Some PhD admissions units probably require the candidates to have papers printed in core journals. In this case, the candidates must also meet the admission requirements of the units.

 

VII. Will the previous examination papers be provided?

 

    No, they won’t.

 

VIII. Which manner will be taken for admission?

 

Select the students according to the marks they get in the first and second exam, combined with their research results, work performance and all-round quality.

1. The university launched the "public graduate school program for national construction of high-level universities" in 2007. We select about 150 students in key areas to study abroad for a PhD degree or joint training every year. 2. Physical examination is organized for freshmen. The admission qualification of whoever does not meet the physical examination standards will be cancelled.

 

3. If their employers can guarantee their learning time, the doctorates involved in the target training in Beijing may apply for a PhD degree. All other doctorates are required to receive a full-time education for three years.

 

4. No accommodation is available for the enrolled students of target training in Beijing.
