The survey is jointly launched by SSDPP and Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA) of China. Its results will be used in MCA’s policy making process for the very group of people.

Prof. Xu Yuebin, Prof. Qiao Dongping, Prof. Han Huawei and Prof. Zhang Fei headed more than 10 BNU doctoral and MA candidates as well as more than 20 students from other universities, including Shandong University of Finance and Economics, Hunan University and Inner Mongolia University, to complete successfully this time’s intensive survey.

The team firstly focused on investigating the employment conditions of subsistence allowance recipients in rural area before they shifted their attention to their urban counterparts. Various instruments have been applied in the team’s effort to achieve more accurate survey results. Focus-group interviews were used before respondents were asked to fill in well-designed questionnaires. Worth mentioning is that SSDPP faculty and students have also laid emphasis on improving their interview skills and promoting better communication with respondents. The survey went on so well that not only the respondents but colleagues from MOC all spoke highly of their good work.
