Dr. Donna Wong was an experienced community worker and social service administrator before she joined the academia. She joined the University of Hong Kong in 1991 and participated actively in social work theory and practice teaching and field work education. Her research interests included equal opportunities and social inclusion of people with disabilities and other minority groups. She was the Program Director of the Bachelor of Social Work program from 2007 to 2010. She had been the Problem Based Learning (PBL) co-ordinator since the inception of this teaching method in 1999. She had a wealth of experiences in both social work teaching and action research. 
Dr. Wong retired from her Assistant Professor post in January 2011 to re-prioritize her life goals and pursuits. She serves as a professioanl consultant on a freelance basis for the Social Workers Registration Board and is mainly responsible for professional qualification assessment of social work programs in Hong Kong. She is now an Honorary Research Fellow of HKU Sau Po Centre on Ageing and currently works on a number of research projects related to ‘Aging and People with Intellectual Disabilities’. She also serves as an honorary secretary to the Concern Group for People with Severe Disabilities which strives to advocate on needs of the severely disabled.
