On the afternoon of April 17th, the International Workshop of "Managing the Social Impacts of Change from a Risk Perspective" came to a successful conclusion.


The workshop lasted for 3 days and took place in the Yingdong Building at BNU. More than 70 scholars from the United Kingdom, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, Japan, Canada, Denmark and Poland, and 20 Chinese scholars participated in the meeting. Among them was Professor Peter Taylor-Gooby from Kent University, who is also the member of the Royal Academy of Arts, Professor Zhang Xiulan from BNU, Yang Tuan from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the DRCSC researcher Wang Huijiong, Professor Christopher Hood from Oxford University and Professor Chris Godwin from the Beijing Representative Office of the UK Research Council.


During the meeting, the experts discussed the topics of Risk Governance and Management, Credibility in Risk, Risk Cognition and Public Response, etc. in the main meeting room. The topics of Risk Management, Risk Assessment, Risk Communication and Response, Social Security, and Risk Management were discussed in the extra meeting rooms.


The themes of the workshop covered a wide range of topics and all the attendees conducted in-depth discussions. This workshop provided a fair forum and a good opportunity for scholars from home and abroad to communicate with each other about the social risk field.
