SSDPP Holds "Seminar on International Comparisons and Chinese Experiences in Social Enterprise Development Models"

On May 24, 2011, the Seminar on International Comparisons and Chinese Experiences in Social Enterprise Development Models was held in Room 2026 of the New Main Building.


Jacques Defourny, Professor of the Department of Economics at the University of Liege in Belgium and President of the EMES European Research Network; and Kim Shin-yang, lecturer from the Department of Civil Society and Welfare at Sungkonghoe University in South Korea, gave reports entitled "The Worldwide Emergence of Social Enterprise: A Comparative Analysis of Europe, the United States and Eastern Asia." and "Understanding the Phenomenon of South Korean Social Enterprise: Its Evolution and Present State", respectively, providing a comprehensive overview on the development models and dynamics of social enterprise in Europe, the United States and East Asian Countries. Experts and scholars from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China and the Central University of Finance and Economics as well as teachers the SSDPP including Zhang Qiang, Wang Xinsong and Xiao Suowei were invited and participated in the seminar.  


Domestic scholars participating in the seminar shared their research results with attendees, analyzing the origins and current state of development of social enterprise from a historical perspective, and discussed in-depth issues concerning the construction and development of related disciplines. According to reports, the seminar was started and hosted by Yu Xiaomin, a teacher from the SSDPP. Yu Xiaomin will probably reach a cooperative agreement with Professor Jacques Defourny to research in greater depth domestic social enterprise phenomena from an international comparative perspective.
