Dr. Tibor Tóth from University of Delaware delivers lecture series at SSDPP

     

From 14 to 21 June 2011, Dr. Tibor Tóth from University of Delaware will deliver a lecture series on Research Methods in Social Sciences at the invitation of the School of Social Development and Public Policy. The nine lectures he is about to deliver are open to all students at Beijing Normal University. The aim of this lecture series was to enhance students' understanding and application of empirical research methods, specifically, how to choose subject matter, explain and discuss basic concepts, how to design researches and how to collect and analyze data.

 

Tibor Tóth received his doctorate in Urban Affairs and Public Policy from University of Delaware in 2005 and now works at the Center for Applied Demography & Survey Research in the College of Public Policy and AdministrationUniversity of Delaware. He has a wealth of survey research experience and has hosted or participated in more than ten social research projects funded by governmental or academic institutes. In his lectures, Dr. Tóth uses many of his own research experiences to explain key aspects of research methodology, combining this with classic cases in American social science and current real practices to develop student perspectives, giving them a deeper understanding of the logic of empirical research.
