Academician Robert Walker, a foreign professor at Beijing Normal University, was interviewed by the national leader

At the beginning of the Spring Festival, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council held a New Year symposium with some foreign experts working in China in the Great Hall of the People. Academician Robert Walker, a foreign professor at Beijing Normal University, was invited to attend the symposium as one of the 12 foreign experts who made suggestions and made valuable comments on the "Report on the Work of the Government (Draft for Comments)".

 

   

  Academician Robert Walker is currently a professor at the School of Social Development and Public Policy, Beijing Normal University. He is a member of the Royal Academy of Social Sciences of UK and a member of the Academic Commission of Social Sciences of the European Union. He was a professor at Greenstein College of Oxford University and was awarded the British Academic Lifelong Achievement Award by Queen Elizabeth II.

 

   

  Academician Walker devoted all his life to the study of poverty and was one of the founders of the theory of poverty and social security in modern Europe. He had a high international influence in academia. In his works, he first put forward the concept of "dynamic poverty", and was one of the first scholars to put forward the concept of "social exclusion" and "multi-dimensional poverty". His book has been translated into many languages, among which the Chinese version of Social Security and Welfare has been selected as a classic textbook for social security major by many well-known universities in China.
